Sean Laehy

Sean’s passion for sustainability began at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he joined the Environmental Studies program and earned a certificate in Renewable and Sustainable Energy. Immersed in coursework on energy policy, climate change, and environmental justice, he discovered how technology and thoughtful design could drive meaningful environmental impact. This was a realization that set the course for his career in renewable energy.

Sean gained hands-on experience early on as a Development Technician at NextEra Energy Resources, where he supported solar farm installations across Silicon Valley. He honed his understanding of the development process, from site acquisition and permitting to power purchase agreements, seeing firsthand how renewable projects come to life.

After graduating, Sean expanded his professional experience at ABM Industries, managing events and operations for the Google campus in Mountain View. There, he refined his project management and coordination skills, collaborating across teams to deliver efficient results.

Driven to deepen his technical expertise, Sean went on to earn his Master of Professional Studies in Renewable Energy and Sustainability Systems from The Pennsylvania State University. His capstone project focused on designing a 1MW agrivoltaics system for the University Park main campus, combining solar energy production with commercial agriculture to advance industry research goals and help the university meet their aggressive emissions reduction target for 2035.

Now, as an Associate Engineer at OurEnergy, Sean is proud to apply his technical background and project development experience to support the company’s mission of advancing sustainable energy solutions.
